Welcome!

Who are we?
We are a group of fish keepers who enjoy keeping live bearing fish. We believe that livebearers are more than just a snack for cichlids although many of us keep those too. Some of us specialize in goodeids or other wild-type fish while others enjoy maintaining and even creating domestic strains such as the fancy guppy.

What do we do?
The NELA strives to further the study of all forms of livebearing fish, to promote interest, exchange ideas, distribute information concerning them, and to encourage the breeding and display of livebearing fish. As such, any activity that makes fish keeping easier is encouraged. For more on what we do, read our constitution.

When do we meet?
We do not have a set meeting time for regular meetings, but they do happen and meetings are scheduled far enough in advance to give everyone ample warning. Our next meeting will be announced soon.
