NELA Meeting Minutes
January 30, 2005

  • The first meeting of NELA commenced at 1 PM at the home of Rit Forcier.

  • In attendance were Larry Jinks, Frank Neil, Rich Pierce, Chuck Pixley, Rit Forcier, Will Fontaine, Ted Guglielmo, Rick Rego, Linda Giza and David Giza

  • After a welcome from Rit and brief background on how NELA was formed,discussed also the need to form this new club.

  • Our hopes are that we host the 2006 ALA convention in NY area.

  • Some of the 25 members(at the start of the meeting count)mentioned were Tim Brady and Ted Coletti.

  • First item of business was to discuss the proposed constitution that was handed out be Rit.

  • Going over the Const. And bylaws-
  • New elected NELA Officers voted in by members were:

  • Board Chair -Rit Forcier

  • Treasurer-Rit

  • Int.Secretary-Linda Giza (possibility of using a different person each meeting)

  • NEC Liaison-Linda Giza

  • Board member /Convention Coordinator-Ted Coletti

  • Breeder Program Chair - Rick Rego

  • If the club were to dissolve any funds remaining would be donated to the Vern Parrish Fund of the ALA.

  • Dues were decided upon as followed:
      Regular membership: $10.00
      Senior (age 60+) $5.00
      Junior ( under15 or full-time student) $5.00
      With Honorary Memberships also available

  • Treasure's Report
  • As of the start of the meeting there was $120.00 in the check book.

  • A sign up sheet was sent around the room for volunteers for the auction, everyone signed up.

  • Rit mentioned the fact that the Chairman's Award at the 2004 ALA convention was won by a young (14 year old) lady from Ohio named Megan Fraley.

  • There was an announcement of the forthcoming events including the NEC Weekend Workshop, Norwalk Auction, PVAS, NJAS and RI auctions and the Koi and Goldfish Show in August.

  • There was a brief refreshment break, (thank you Mrs. Forcier it was great)

  • And then a mini auction was conducted by auctioneer Rick Rego.

  • Mini Auction brought another $156.00 into the treasury.

  • Thank you House of Fins (Greenwich, CT) and Tropical Fish Society of RI for your generous donations.

  • Linda Giza will be looking into buttons for the club for advertising.

  • Rick Rego will check into ALA hats.

  • Given the hour, the slide program was postponed until the next regular meeting.

  • The next special meeting will be on March 19 at noon at the NEC weekend workshop.

  • Meeting adjourned at 4:30PM
